Clubhouse Update
The Anchorage Lifestyle Village is buzzing with enthusiasm as construction begins on the new Clubhouse facility. Residents are eagerly anticipating the addition of a new café/bar and versatile spaces designed for various social activities. As well as the waterfront patios, offering views to the Waterways and sporting greens, designed for fun and entertainment amidst beautiful landscapes. Additionally, the Wellness Centre will be built in succession and features a gym, spa, and swimming pool, all set to enhance the communal offerings, making this project a cherished component of the Village. – Rhonda Johnson, Village Manager

Beer, Bubbles & Bites at the Waterfront Residences
How spoilt were we, a perfect day by the Waterways for the residents of The Anchorage Village, Marsden Cove. We welcomed everyone in with bubbles, beer and bites, to view the stunning waterfront residences. A new unique, contemporary design by Hopper Living with water lapping at the private jetty. Anchorage Village Christmas Lunch
What a holly jolly time we had celebrating the silly season with our awesome residents at the Marina Restaurant and café! The whole event was a blast, perched up overlooking the marina, filled with Christmas vibes and tons of goodwill.
Big shoutout to the amazing restaurant team for the scrumptious meal! Laughter filled the air, kicking off the holiday season in the most enjoyable way possible. Let the festivities continue!

What an incredible day at the Anchorage Waipu Sponsorship event! ☀️🏌️♂️
The sun was shining, plenty of prizes, and the room was buzzing with excitement. Huge shoutout to the Waipu Golf Club and the amazing caterers for treating us to a scrumptious meal and a lively prize ceremony. The event was a smashing success, and we can't help but look forward to next year's edition! A big thank you to everyone who joined in the fun.
The Anchorage Mid-Winter Christmas 2023
Last Thursday, we got together for an evening of midwinter Christmas cheer with decorations and a menu to match.
Residents were greeted with juice and bubbles, and let's just say, those drinks were on a roll all night long. Big shoutout to Hoppers for making that happen!
And when it came to the grub, Alfie’s Spit Roast didn't disappoint, dishing out their usual mouthwatering fare. Alfie even serenaded us with a tune or two. Good times all around! 🎄🍾🎶
Daffodil Day at The Anchorage
In support of the National Daffodil Day fundraiser, the Anchorage Lifestyle Village held a Daffodil Day Sausage Sizzle combined with a happy hour on 25 August 2023.
We firmly believe in this important cause, and the generosity of our residents clearly proved that. The event saw a turnout of 41 residents!
It was a blast for everyone involved, and we're thrilled to announce that the funds we raised, a total of $713, have gone to support our Northland Cancer Society.
Big shoutout and heartfelt gratitude go to Bream Bay Realty, the talented local artist Christina Maassen, and Hoppers for their generous raffle prize donations. And let's not forget those mouthwatering sausages - freshly supplied by our local Ruakaka Butcher, Millers Meat - they were as big a hit as ever.
One Tree Point Bowling Day
The One Tree Point Bowling Day sponsored by Anchorage Lifestyle Village was a total blast! We were lucky with the weather – a gorgeous, sunny day which made for perfect playing conditions.
We had to reschedule a couple of times thanks to Mother Nature not cooperating, but when the day finally came around, it was a hit. Two teams from Maungatapere took out the top two spots, with a team from Waipu rounding out the podium.
Picture this: loads of laughter, a bit of friendly competition, and an afternoon spread that was just scrumptious. And of course, we wrapped it all up with an exciting prizegiving to close out the fantastic day.
Being part of this event as a sponsor was an absolute delight. Can't wait for the next one – here's to more good times ahead! ☀️
Intervillage Quiz Night: The Anchorage vs Bream Bay
The Anchorage Lifestyle Village was invited to a quiz night held at Bream Bay Village and sponsored by Ray White Real Estate, and was represented by Carleen Still as Quiz Mistress.
Each village was represented by 20 residents - 5 teams of 4. The Anchorage teams were the Godwits, the Princesses, Seagull, Savvy Seniors, and Rasl Dazzle with the Rasl Dazzle team taking out the sports category.
It was a great time with cheerful, friendly rivalry and jest. Future plans of this becoming an annual event between the villages may be on the cards.
King's Birthday High Tea
The Anchorage Lifestyle Village held its inaugural High tea on Tuesday 6 June following the monarch's birthday weekend. The event was attended by 20 residents and the team with all dressing for the special occasion.
The Resident workshop team assisted the event by taking standard cake plates and turning them into the 3 tier cake stands displaying the high tea treats.
A core group of residents assisted in the catering of the High Tea menu.
Door prizes for the best original outfit for the event went to Carolyn and John.
The event was deemed a success with residents requesting a repeat event.

The Anchorage Lifestyle Village 5th Anniversary Celebration
On the 28th of April we celebrated The Anchorage’s 5th anniversary of residents being welcomed into the village and their new homes with the first arriving in April 2018.
The celebration was held in the clubroom “The Anchor”. The setting of the event reflected it’s waterfront position with a blue and silver theme. While the weather was unpredictable at times the Sun did shine briefly for a beautiful group photo to represent the voyage many living within the village are on as the development of this exciting lifestyle village continues.
We were fortunate to have Tim Brooks, CEO of Hoppers, welcome everyone to the event and speak of the past and future journey of the village. The attendees included residents and members of the Hopper Living and Hoppers team.
Our first resident, Doreen, had the honours to cut the celebratory cake with Shana Hopper-McCully, a Director, and Rhonda Johnson, the Village Manager beside her.
It was delightful to have the first five residents who joined the village in April 2018 pose together for a lovely group photo.
The celebration continued into the late afternoon as people enjoyed mingling, sipping bubbles, and sharing memories.
Pink Ribbon Breakfast
The Anchorage Lifestyle Village hosted a Pink Ribbon fundraising Breakfast with Bubbles on 20 May 2023. This was well attended by residents, family, and friends with all 40 tickets sold and many getting into the spirit by dressing in pink.
With the support of the Anchorage Village team, the event was organised with a core group of residents whose vast menu included both continental and full-cooked breakfasts with strict instructions the Anchorage Village team were to stay out of the kitchen.
The event was supported by donations from local businesses, La Trend, the Land and Sea, and Hoppers. Marsden Cove Pharmacy significantly donated to the 6 raffle prizes.
This worthwhile event exceeded its target of $750 raising a total of $1185.
Thank you to all who supported by attending and a special thank you to those residents who organised and catered the event – well-done team.
Anchorage Village – Boat Ramp Grand Opening
A memorable milestone for the Anchorage, on Friday afternoon we officially opened the Villages’ very first boat ramp! Signaling the very first facility of its kind of any retirement village in New Zealand. Residents can now make use of their very own private boat ramp. This will allow residents the ability to launch and retrieve their vessels into the waterways at Marsden Cove.
Village Manager Rhonda Johnson said, “At The Anchorage Village we have just opened our amazing, private residents boat ramp with help from our local Iwi representative of Patuharakeke, our enthusiastic residents, our building and construction team, Hopper Living management team and shareholders, and the Anchorage Village Team. Even Spice, our resident feline representative attended.”
The sun came out to help celebrate, the bubbles were flowing, and a sausage sizzle was put together for all to enjoy. Residents can now access the boat ramp and enjoy fishing, kayaking, and more waterborne activities. Soon we will add a fish filleting station to complete the area.

Pink Ribbon Breakfast
The Pink Ribbon Breakfast was a big success, with raising $888.60 for The Breast Cancer Foundation. A big thank you to Rhonda Johnson for organising, and the wonderful team of residents who assisted on set up and cooking and serving, it looked beautiful!
One Tree Point Bowling Tournament
The Anchorage Lifestyle Village is proud to sponsor our local One Tree Point Bowling Club. The club recently held the Anchorage Open Triples competition on Thursday, 3rd Feb 2022. While the windy day offered some challenges, this did not impact the participants' enjoyment of the day. A great time was had by all and the jovial competitive spirits were a delight to see. Even the local team’s mascot “Bear” knows the rules and observed from the side lines.
Covid 19 Update | Tuesday 17th August 2021
As at 11.59pm Tuesday the 17th of August, New Zealand is going into level 4 lockdown for 3 days, Auckland and Coromandel will be in level 4 for 7 days. Following this announcement the Anchorage Village will be following the Level 4 lockdown procedure.
The village will be closed to visitors and all community activities will not be operating. We appreciate your understanding at this time and ask that you abide by the level 4 guidelines click here

Golf Tournament
The Anchorage Lifestyle Village is proud to support the Waipu Golf Club. On the 7 August 2021 the village sponsored the Mixed Tournament. The tournament was attended by 98 golfers from 13 different clubs including players from as far as New Plymouth and Rotorua. The weather held off while golfers played with a stunning coastal back drop. The event was attended and supported by several Anchorage residents.
The Waipu Golf Club has recently freshened up their facilities and now have the Cafe Salt and Pepper by the sea.
